God created us with a deep need to belong. Just as giant redwood trees gain strength and stability through root systems that intertwine with the trees around them, we were never meant to navigate life or faith alone. The early church understood this and devoted themselves to fellowship- not simply spending time together, but sharing life, participating, serving, and supporting one another. Through the church, God gives us a spiritual family where we can experience the connection and community we were created for.

True belonging reminds us that we are not alone, that we are part of a family, and that our lives have a purpose beyond ourselves. Being part of a church community means choosing to show up for one another, making ourselves available, and moving from simply consuming to contributing. As we invest in relationships and serve alongside others, our faith grows stronger and we discover more of the purpose God has for us. Like interconnected roots that help a forest withstand the storms, the people God places around us can strengthen our faith, protect the roots of our lives, and help us become who He created us to be.

These truths are more than doctrines to understand—they offer hope, freedom, restoration, and power for everyday life. Where do you turn when you need help? Psalm 121 reminds us that while we often look to other people or even within ourselves for the strength, wisdom, and security we need, neither can carry the weight of our deepest dependence. People can support and encourage us, but they cannot provide what only God can give. And relying solely on our own understanding can lead us away from the One who knows us and sees what lies ahead.

Our true help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He never sleeps, never loses sight of us, and faithfully watches over every part of our lives. Instead of depending on our own strength or expecting others to meet needs only God can fulfill, we're invited to look to Him with confidence. Whatever we face, we can trust that God is present, He is our Helper, and He will remain with us now and forever.

What we devote ourselves to shapes who we become. In Acts 2, the early church was more than a group of people who believed the same things—they were a community transformed by the Holy Spirit and deeply committed to following the way of Jesus together. Their devotion produced a church marked by unity, generosity, worship, prayer, and genuine care for one another. Rather than simply asking what the early church did, we're invited to consider what it would look like to live with that same kind of devotion today.

Acts 2:42 gives us four practices at the heart of this life: devotion to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. These aren't simply church programs or activities to add to an already busy schedule—they're practices that form us into the people God desires us to become. A life of devotion takes time, commitment, and sacrifice, calling us to move from consuming to contributing and from simply trying harder to intentionally training in the way of Jesus.

What would it look like to stop holding back and fully trust God with the life He has given you? In 2 Kings 13, King Jehoash was given an opportunity for complete victory, but he stopped short, leaving arrows in his quiver and settling for less than what God desired for him. His story challenges us to consider the places where we may be living with partial obedience, allowing fear, comfort, or complacency to keep us from fully surrendering to God. We weren't created to settle for a halfhearted faith, but to persevere and faithfully use everything God has entrusted to us.
God has placed purpose, potential, and calling within each of us, but potential only makes a difference when we're willing to act on it. That means choosing courage over comfort, making what matters most truly important, and allowing faith to fuel the risks God asks us to take. Rather than leaving this life with arrows still in the quiver, we're invited to trust God completely, step boldly into His calling, and give everything we have to following Jesus.

Special guest speaker Dr. Craig Woodall reminds us that life's storms are inevitable, but they don't have to define us. Even in circumstances God did not orchestrate, He is able to redeem what has been broken and use our hardest seasons to transform us. In the middle of fear, uncertainty, and disappointment, Jesus doesn't remain distant- He meets us right where we are and reminds us that the storm is not the end of our story.

How we respond in the storm matters. By taking our thoughts captive and choosing to anchor them in the truth of who God is, we can resist allowing our circumstances to determine our hope. And when it feels like nothing is changing, one small word can reshape our perspective: yet. What God hasn't done yet doesn't mean He isn't working, and the storm we're facing today may become the place where we experience His presence and redemption in a whole new way.

This message, based on Psalm 139, is about realizing that God knows you completely, is always with you, intentionally created you, and wants to search your heart—not to shame you, but to transform you. The main point is that you don’t have to hide, pretend, or perform for God because He already knows every part of you and still loves you completely.

The message moves through four ideas: God knows me, God is with me, God made me, and God searches me. Ultimately, that complete knowledge and love should lead us to stop hiding from God, surrender what needs to change, and come to Him confidently through Jesus, who demonstrated God’s love by dying for us even while we were still sinners.

Every generation needs people who will remember God's faithfulness and people who will dream about what He might do next. Psalm 71 gives us a picture of faith being passed from one generation to another- those who have walked with God sharing the stories of what He has done so the next generation can step boldly into what He is calling them to do. Student Weekend is a celebration of that calling and a reminder that the Church has an incredible opportunity to invest in a generation that is showing a renewed hunger for Jesus.

Being "Here For It" means more than cheering on the next generation from a distance. It means showing up with prayer, presence, encouragement, and a willingness to become the spiritual mothers and fathers young people are asking for. When one generation faithfully plants seeds of truth and blessing in the next, those seeds take root and grow into a faith that continues to be passed on. Together, we can honor what God has done, recognize what He is doing now, and help the next generation discover the story He wants to write through their lives.
